About the CO2 Extract: Pure caraway seed, extracted in Germany using high-pressure extraction with natural supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent. The aroma of this oil may bring joy and creative energy. It's useful for stomach conditions and lack of appetite. Respected aromatherapist and author, Salvatore Battaglia, suggests coriander seed to help relieve arthritis, gout, muscular aches and pains and rheumatism, as well as digestive disorders. Note: Its estrogen content may bring relief to painful PMS symptoms.
Coriander extract has an antimicrobial effect and is therefore used as a preservative in pharmaceutical products [1]. The extract is also used in herbal medicines for gastrointestinal complaints. Coriander is also used in folklore history to treat worms and as a liniment for joint pain and rheumatism [2].
Aroma: A pronounced warm, spicy, and woody aroma.
Chemistry: 75 - 97 % essential oil with 48 - 80 % linalool, alpha-pinene, limonene, linalyl acetate, gamma-terpinene, camphor, aldehydes, less than 100 ppm safrol.
About CO2 Extracts: CO2 extracts are generally used topically. CO2 extracts have larger molecules compared to their steam-distilled counterparts. Some may not be suitable for use in a nebulizing diffuser (unless blended with a thinner oil) – though most will be just fine in an ‘ultrasonic’ unit. CO2 extracts from herbs, spices, and natural plants can be used as bioactive ingredients, fragrances, and flavors in a highly concentrated form of nature to enhance cosmetics, perfumes, and food products.
Note: CO2 extracts generally include some larger molecules compared to their steam-distilled counterparts. Some may not be suitable for use in a nebulizing diffuser (unless blended with a thinner oil) – though most will be just fine in an ‘ultrasonic’ unit. The 'CO2' supercritical distillation means the resin was never boiled at high temperatures to extract the oil. Instead, it was immersed in liquid carbon dioxide which then simply evaporates when the process is complete. This process results in a more chemically complex oil.
