Helichrysum - Wild
This variant is currently sold out.
Helichrysum has been studied in Europe for regeneration of nerves, improving skin conditions, reducing inflammation, relieving pain, and speeding healing. Helichrysum essential oil is known as one of the best natural remedies for a number of conditions, namely to heal the skin and injuries and to help speed recovery and reduce discomfort from contusions or muscle strain.
Aroma: Sweet, herbaceous, rosy with spicy, hay, honey, and woody nuances. Every nose is different: some will hate it, some will love it. We find helichrysum (in its earlier stages after distillation) very green and herbaceous, sweet, somewhat spicy-floral. As it ages it becomes more well-rounded, honey-like, warm, and rich, with some woody aspects. To some, it can smell medicinal in nature, but to others, it's a subtle floral essence that tends to linger.
Helichrysum blends well with Citrus oils, floral oils such as lavender, chamomile, geranium, clary sage, and clove. These are some of the most familiar combinations; many more are possible.
Other Insights: Wild grown means that the plant is not farmed but left to grow in the wild; Organic Certified plants are grown, cultivated, and planted, but not wild. Helichrysum italicum essential oil is expensive because one ton of hand-harvested helichrysum flowering tops yields only about one kilogram of essential oil.
The Balkan variety has the highest levels of potentially anti-inflammatory curcumenes, with an aroma very similar to that of the Corsican.
The French variety (a 'reserve', of which we also have a very limited stock) also known as the Corsica essential oil has the highest levels of neryl acetate at 41%.
The Corsican 'Fine' is a pinnacle of aromatic perfection in the helichrysum. Those using helichrysum for aromatherapy will love it.
