About the Oil: Balsam Fir is the only fir tree native to Canada. This one is wonderfully refreshing! Most firs tend to be highly prized, and often used generally for their aromatic contributions.  While it is considered stimulating, it works well as a nervine, and can be calming.  Fir oils in general have been used to help relieve joint and muscle pain associated with sprain, strain and rheumatoid arthritis. Fir Balsam has traditionally been used for fever, and respiratory or sinus infections.
Fir oil is also indicated as an analgesic, and anti-inflammatory. It can be diluted in a carrier oil for massage in cases of arthritis, muscular aches and pains, and rheumatism. It has been included in some cough and cold remedies, and may act as an expectorant - the essential oil has been researched for its ability to kill airborne germs and bacteria.
